Our story

Built from the blacktop up.

I'm a third-generation asphalt maintenance contractor. My grandfather laid asphalt. My father laid asphalt. I lay asphalt.

And for years, I ran the business the same way they did — estimates scrawled in notebooks, invoices written by hand, job details buried in phone notes and photos. It worked, until it didn't.

When I went looking for software to fix it, everything I found was built for plumbers, electricians, or general contractors. Nobody had built anything for us. So I built it myself.

BlacktopIQ started as an internal tool for my own company, TPS Asphalt Maintenance. Once it was running in our business, the difference was immediate. We started winning more bids with professional estimates sent on the spot. Our crews had less downtime. Fuel costs dropped. We knew our margins on every job — not just at the end of the year.
